Bill Scorzari To Release 6th Studio Album Sidereal Days (Day 2) Out September 25, 2026

Bill Scorzari, a New York-based singer-songwriter, recording artist, and performer, releases “Sandcastles Waiting,” the last in a series of pre-release singles to come out from his 6th independent studio album, Sidereal Days (Day 2), which will be released in its entirety on September 25, 2026. Sidereal Days (Day 2) is the second part of a double album, co-produced with Neilson Hubbard, following Sidereal Days (Day 1) which was released last October.
Meticulous with his words and musical craftsmanship, often called a “writer’s writer.” Scorzari examines the human condition with his distinctive voice, which can be subtle and striking at the same time. His music is wide-ranging and deeply personal, with inspiration coming from just about everything that’s ever been around him. Sometimes it’s a dream, a news story, a personal experience, something he’s read, a coiled telephone cord, a conversation he’s overheard or had, something he or someone else has said or done, or something else. Usually, it’s a combination of many things that he joins together to support the story that a song is telling.
“Sandcastles Waiting” starts with a melody that captures an abundance of emotion. Bill says, “Looking back on it, the writing of this song was a lot like building a sandcastle. The initial chord structure came to me pretty quickly. I sensed a direction for the music as soon as I started playing it and knew it was going to be something very intimate, but still it was elusive, and as I kept building on what was emerging, it felt very fragile. I was trying to find the music for a feeling that hadn’t yet fully surfaced, so I was moving in increments, figuring it out along the way. It was more ethereal than just working on or toward a known idea or vision.”
“Later turns of the melody inspired changes in the chords,” he continues, “which in turn inspired more changes to the melody. The more I worked on it, the more precarious it seemed, so I decided to move more slowly forward, making sure that the details would support their own weight while making adjustments to the foundation of it as well. The lyrics added yet another level of push and pull as they began to take shape, and that caused the music to change in new ways all over again.” Bill captured the final lyrics and completed the song in 2024 while recording the Sidereal Days albums.
In the eleven tracks on Sidereal Days (Day 2) (as well as the ten tracks on (Day 1)), it is evident that Bill is dedicated to finding meaning and interconnectedness as he takes his time through his songs, thoroughly returning to earlier points in life where he was, before moving them forward. Often presented in the form of a conversation, there are songs of love and reflection; songs that came to him quickly and others that took years to complete; songs with multiple layers and others that are short and sublime—balancing the radio-ready with long and contemplative. Scorzari's music is sensitive to the level of clarity he seeks for himself, and his arrangements are strong and poignant.
The band for Sidereal Days (Day 2) is Bill Scorzari on lead and harmony vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, and banjo; Brad Talley on Dobro; Chelsea McGough on cello; Cindy Richardson Walker and Marie Lewey (aka The Shoals Sisters) on backing vocals; Danny Mitchell on piano, Hammond B3 organ, flugelhorn, and trumpet; Eamon McLoughlin on violin/fiddle; Erin Rae on harmony vocals; Joshua Britt on mandolin and mandola; Juan Solorzano on electric, electric slide, and electric baritone guitars, pedal steel, and ganjo; Megan McCormick on harmony vocals; Michael Rinne on upright acoustic and electric bass; and Neilson Hubbard on drums and percussion.
Bill self-recorded his instrumentation and vocals for the entire double album at his New York studio, First Thunder Recording. It was there that, starting in July of 2022, Bill laid out all of his parts and fine-tuned his compositions over two years’ time before bringing those recordings to Skinny Elephant Recording in Nashville in August 2024 to continue with engineer Dylan Alldredge, with Bill and Neilson Hubbard co-producing. The final mixes were completed by engineer Nic Coolidge at Dead Pop Studios in Providence, RI, in early 2025, and engineer Hallie Melton completed the mastering in April 2025 in Nashville.
“There’s an intuition that develops between musicians when they know their instrument and the language of music well, and it allows them to anticipate what each other will play in a song even before they play it,” says Bill about the recording process. “This happened throughout the Nashville sessions and is part of what made the performances on the Sidereal Days recordings such a good experience.”
